Canalina Infinity Flat

Applications

CANALINA INFINITY Flat is an advanced linear drainage system that is 100% watertight and allows for the efficient flow of surface water.

Suitable for paved structures in both indoor and outdoor environments.
The system is made of Polypropylene (PP) and consists of 1.50-meter-long modules connected in a continuous line. The standard height is 11 cm at screed level.
The section and internal slope of the CANALINA INFINITY Flat drainage channels enhance the speed of water flow and the resulting self-cleaning force, helping to prevent debris buildup at the bottom of the duct.

The material and design make the channel very lightweight, offering significant logistical advantages. The ducts feature an internal slope but can be installed on a flat surface, simplifying the installation process.
Around the body of the channel, there is a flange with an applied felted fabric that enables attachment to insulation systems using thin-bed installation techniques.

The system is completed with suitable and fully compatible special components, such as: drain terminals, end caps, AISI 304 stainless steel grates, and accessories to ensure a watertight seal.

Note: Grates can also be supplied in AISI 316L stainless steel upon request.

The channels are easy to inspect and clean.

Phase 1

Check that the lip seals are placed in their housing at the ends of the duct and are not deformed.

Phase 2

Assemble the ducts after lubricating the male joint with the approved lubricant, taking care to place the flat seal between the sections. The flat seal has to adhere perfectly to the mounting flange of the ducts. Position the galvanized iron connecting plates outside the mounting flange of the ducts, and fasten the ducts with the screws and bolts provided, making sure to tighten the bolt using a “criss-cross” sequence, without tightening too much to prevent the flat seal from coming out. Incorrect fastening can compromise the waterproofing of the system. To make the assembly easier, we suggest performing the assembly phases mentioned above with the ducts upside down. It is recommended to perform the assembly on flat surfaces. To complete the assembly with elements like the end caps and the drain terminals carefully repeat phases 1-2.

Phase 3

Put the duct into the standard position. Please Note: If the duct is more than 3 meters long, more fitters will be required in order to avoid any abnormal twists to the duct. Lay the duct at the project height and make the screed with the grille already mounted.

Please Note:  Once the previous steps have been carried out correctly, we recommend flooding the duct system to check its waterproofing.

Phase 4

Make the formwork or duct access box (as shown in the figure) with structural fluid cement mortar with a minimum thickness on the side of the felted fins of 5 cm, taking care to fill it evenly on the exterior.

Please Note: The step described above must be carried out once the grille has been installed. This is of fundamental importance because it prevents the duct from expanding during freeze-thaw cycles (temperature changes).

Phase 5

Connect the duct with the drainage system (with the proper size and gradient).
Please Note: Only use pipes with o-ring waterproof seals.

Phase 6

Run the sloping screed up against the previously made concrete formwork or box, taking care not to ruin the fabric on it, as this would result in a reduced seal of any waterproofing system to be carried out later. We recommend protecting the fabric. Any waterproofing must be carried out in adherence to the felt flap, in accordance with the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the waterproofing system. It is necessary, however, in order to connect the waterproofing system and the duct, to apply the strip junction (ART.  INF/BAND) listed in the catalogue/price list.

Phase 7

Only for Infinity and Tecnochannel (NO FLAT)

Phase 8

To proceed to the paving installation of the FLAT system, insert the template in the duct.

Phase 9

Lay the flooring taking care to ensure it adheres correctly to the template (without a joint), and proceed in the same way for the full length of the duct, moving the template each time.

Phase 10

Flooring the cover grille. Apply the layer of adhesive, full-bed, on the grille. Place the cover grille in its seating inside the duct, then lay the tile (width 9.6 cm).

Phase 11

To level the floor with the tile laid on the cover grille, use the specific double spacer that can be used to level the tile just by pressing down with your hands.

Phase 12 and 13

The spacer has two different heights: 2 or 3 cm
In case of a floor thickness of less than 2 cm, use the cross with the shorter lower part.
In case of flooring with a thickness of more than 2 cm, use the spacer with the longer bottom section.
Bevel (chamfer) the tile / marble / stone, in proximity to the run-off joint.

How can I protect my home from rainwater pooling?

If the walls and floors of your home show signs of damage caused by water infiltration, it means rainwater is stagnating on surfaces and seeping into materials. To protect your home from water damage, seal any cracks, check for broken tiles, and waterproof exterior walls with water-repellent paints.

Once these steps are taken, it’s essential to eliminate pooling on outdoor surfaces. Drainage channels are the most effective solution to direct rainwater toward the sewage system before it can cause damage.

Why should architects and landscape designers choose Canalina Infinity Flat drainage channels?

Our tileable drainage channels integrate seamlessly into any home surface without compromising its aesthetics. With Malagrida drainage systems, you can protect the building from water infiltration and pooling in an elegant and discreet way.

Which surfaces are the Canalina Infinity Flat low-profile drainage systems designed for?

The reduced thickness and high drainage capacity make the Infinity Flat systems ideal for terraces, balconies, and courtyards.

Thanks to the excellent chemical stability of polypropylene, these drainage systems can also be installed in industrial kitchens and food processing areas.

Do I need to hire specialized technicians to install Malagrida drainage channels?

The channels of the Canalina Infinity line, as well as the Tecnochannel systems, are extremely lightweight, and the patented installation system requires no silicone. The entire system can be assembled and installed even by individuals with no experience in construction.
